The viral aluminum-foil toilet hack claims to save water, prevent leaks and rust, and keep the bowl cleaner—but there’s little evidence to support these claims.Foil is too light to meaningfully reduce water use, and it cannot repair worn flappers, stop mineral buildup, or prevent stains.
Worse, loose foil can interfere with valves, break apart, or react with certain cleaners and create additional problems.For real results, fix leaks promptly, use proper water-saving devices, and clean or replace worn toilet components instead.
