Curious Dog

What began as a curious shortcut across the job site quickly turned into a muddy misadventure when the golden dog trotted straight into freshly poured concrete, his paws and chest sinking fast into the thick, heavy gray slush. Trapped and peering up with wide, apologetic eyes, he froze until a construction worker rushed over, gently wrapping his arms beneath the pup’s shoulders to haul him free with an audible suction pop. Safe on gravel, the trembling dog shook himself out as the worker immediately grabbed a garden hose, soothingly rinsing away the caustic sludge from his legs and paws until the coat ran clear and the bewildered pup was wagging again.
